Dancing to Live Music Is the BEST!

We were lucky to have Vecernica play for us for our annual St. Patrick's Day Party. It was totally festive. We'll post more pictures in a bit, but first, here's a video of kids and adults dancing Alunelul to live music.

Family Folk Dance Night - New Schedule!

Big News!

The club voted last night to combine Family Folk Dance Night (FFN) with Party Night, held on the third Friday of each month. This breaks the more than 5-year tradition of FFN happening on 4th Fridays, and allows for a more festive atmosphere for all. Starting on February 18, we'll meet to dance at 7, and the party will begin around 8:15.

4th Fridays will now become Beginners' Nights, with members of the club rotating to teach simple dances and encourage newcomers to develop their confidence for dancing with us on other Fridays, too. This will begin with Friday, February 25th. The evening will begin at 8 pm.

Other aspects of our schedule remain the same. Join us!

Derek MacCormack in Memoriam

We lost a friend and fellow dancer when Derek passed away recently. He was such a wonderful addition to the club! We will miss him dearly!

Married to Janet Zocchi in 1966. After retirement he earned a BA in Anthropology from S.F. State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, member of PHI Beta Kappa. Derek loved hiking on Mt. Tamalpais, backpacking in the Sierras and folk dancing. He was a member of the S.F. Nature Friends and Chang's International Folk Dancing. Derek is survived by his wife Janet MacCormack and nieces and nephews in England and Ireland. Memorial Services to be scheduled at a later date.
